How To Do Keyword Research For Your Chosen Adult Niche

This is Part Two of the Adult Blog Kingdom Project. Part One is about brainstorming for niche ideas. Hopefully you have come up with a few ideas, and you are ready to proceed to the next step, which is keyword research.

If you ask anyone who knows me personally as a marketer, they will tell you that I absolutely love keyword research. I’ve even been called a “keyword research nerd” a time or two. I don’t know why seeing a bunch of related words pop up in the results gets me so excited, but it does!

After brainstorming niche ideas, I decided to build a blog kingdom around the “Drunk Girls” niche. Now, I will show you exactly how I conduct my keyword research

The Tool of The Trade - GTrends

GTrends has been around for some time, and even though there have been better keyword research tools developed; it still gets the job done very well. GTrends is a mixture of Google Trends and the Wordtracker Keyword Tool. It is perfect for adult webmasters because it allows you to only show adult keywords- which are what we will be targeting.

Go ahead and open up GTrends. (Link will open in a new tab/window)

When the page loads, you will see an option to change the Adult Filter. Click that box, and select “Adult Only”

Since I have chosen to build a blog kingdom around the “Drunk Girls” Niche, I will type that keyphrase into the search box, and click the “Hit Me” button.

What Are These Columns?

Once your results load, you will see a table with three columns. The first column tells you how many searches per day that the keyword in the second column receives. In the third column, you will see an icon that looks like a graph. When you click on that graph, you will be shown the Google Trends data for that keyword, along with an estimated amount of clicks that you can expect per day if you were the number 1 result in Google for that keyword.

When you click on the graph in the third column, you will be shown a few different numbers. The number of competing results is quite accurate, but the number of visitors per day are not very accurate. Do not base your decision strictly on these numbers…

Which Keywords Should I Target?

Since I do not want to be in direct competition with the big players in this market- yet, I will go after keywords that are not as popular as the top keywords in this market. I usually start checking out keywords that are searched for less than 200 times. Here is a screenshot from my results showing keywords under 200 searches per day.

Now, we have a list of relevant keywords that we can use for our blog, so we have to find out which one we want to build our first blog around. We will use all of these keywords in our blog, but I like to choose a primary keyword to focus each individual blog on.

Which Keyword Will Be My Primary Keyword?

There is definitely a method to my madness when I choose a primary keyword, the problem is, it is difficult to put into words. However, I will do my best to explain it.

First, I take a look at my list of keywords and let my mind tell me which one to check out first. Do you remember taking tests in school, and your teachers always telling you to go with your gut instinct if you don’t know the answer? Well, I let my gut instinct tell me which keywords to start with.

For some reason, three keywords really stuck out to me. “Drunk Girls Party”, “Real Drunk Girls”, and “Drunk Girls Sex”. Now, I will check to see how many pages I have to compete with for those keywords. Here how I do that:

First, open up a new browser tab or window and go to Google’s main page (google.com). Type the first keyword into the search box – with the parenthesis- and hit the search button.

I’m sure you have seen Google’s SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages) before. In the top right hand corner, you will see how many results there are for that exact keyword phrase.

The number of results displayed is not very accurate though. Most marketers do not know this, and they base their conclusion about how much competition they have on this number alone. This number does not take into account the number of pages with duplicate content or pages that have been sandboxed.

To get a more accurate number, click the “preferences” link next to the search box.

Towards the middle of the preferences page, you will see NUMBER OF RESULTS. Set that to show 100 results per page, and save your settings.

After the Google SERP loads back up, go to the bottom of the page and click the number “10” to show the 10th page of results.

Most likely, there will not be 10 pages of results, and at the very bottom of the last page of results, you will see a message about Google omitting results.

What this means is that for the “Drunk Girls Party” keyword, there are only 825 pages on Google that I will have to actually compete with, since the rest of the pages aren’t being listed by Google at all. That’s like taking candy from a baby!

Now what?

After finding out how many competing pages that I was dealing with for each keyword, I decided to build the first blog in our adult blog kingdom around the keyword/phrase “Drunk Girls Sex”.

You do not necessarily have to go with the keyword with the fewest number of competing results, but it will make getting ranked high on Google much easier in the long run.

The next part of the Adult Blog Kingdom project will talk about finding content to put on our blog. Notice, we still have not registered for a blog yet. We will get to that point though, so be patient! Don’t worry, I promised that you will not have to spend a dime, so I will get you set up for a totally free adult blog when that time comes!

Brainstorming Niche Ideas For The Adult Blog Kingdom Project

Most new adult webmasters have a problem coming up with a niche that they would like to promote. I have written a few posts that will help you find your niche, but since I am doing a project, and I promised to document my every step, this post is dedicated to helping you find a niche.

Brainstorming Ideas.

In an earlier post, I talked about how adult blog directories can be a helpful resource for coming up with a niche idea. I am going to use this brainstorming resource to find a niche for this project. I have decided to use Adult Blog Kingdom to get some ideas. .

For the most part, blog directory owners will not list a category that doesn’t have an audience. They usually put categories that would bring visitors to their directory, so finding a category with an audience is fairly simple using blog directories. .

When Adult Blog Hunter loads, you will see the main page, which lists the different categories featured in the directory. Each directory also has the number of pages listed in parenthesis. Personally, I like to find a category that does not have many pages already submitted, because that means there is less competition. There will be more on competition research in a later post though, so you can pick any category that you want as a niche. .

For this project, I have decided to go with the “Drunk Girls” niche. At the time of writing this post, there are only 7 other blogs submitted to the “Drunk Girls” category, and I have a feeling that there are a lot of guys out there who are into drunk girls. .

Your Action Plan.

All that I want you to do right now is come up with a few ideas for a niche that you would like to promote. If you are not interested in any of the categories on that directory, check out a few other methods of brainstorming a niche that I have mentioned in previous posts.

I do not want you to analyze your ideas. Do not take into consideration anything other than whether or not you think you will be able to write about this niche. Do not worry about competition or the size of the market. That will all come later on. .

Come up with about 3 or 4 ideas, and have them ready for the next post, which will be about coming up with a few keywords to target on your blog. .
